A Finnish Hug

Several of my mohair bears have found their way to a lovely home in Finland. They have a very loving bear mom who spoils them rotten. What more could they ask for LOL. It is such a wonderful feeling when my bears go to homes where they are loved and enjoyed. It makes my job so meaningful.

Just look at this Beckoning Bears Hug enjoying a little garden party on a balcony in Finland. I just wish I could join them. Thanks to Harriet for sending me this great photo :)

Parade of Tall Ships

We spent a gorgeous afternoon enjoying a special parade today. The Tall Ships Festival has been taking place all weekend, and today it ended with a 2 hour parade on the waterfront. The weather was perfect and there were probably over 200 boats in the harbour. About 42 boats from around the Globe were participants ; the rest were spectators.

I hope you enjoy a sampling of what we saw. Click on the photos to enlarge for a better view :)
People lined both sides of the harbourYou almost expect a pirate to jump off this ship. It was one of my favorites.

Theodore Too was created after the children's TV show called Theodore Tug Boat. You can take a harbour ride on this adorable tug !
The grand finale. By far the largest ship.
Thanks for taking a peek :)

A night of giggling

It was a long night with 6 teenage girls here to help my daughter celebrate her upcoming 13th birthday. What a delightful bunch of young ladies they are too ! Very sweet girls.

I clearly remember my 13th birthday party and how fun it was. I even delivered a piece of cake that had the word LOVE on it to a "boy" that I thought was sooo cute . Well, he was 20 and I'm sure I made a complete fool out of myself LOL. Why didn't my mom stop me LOL.

The girls ate lots of yummy treats, and stayed up all hours giggling and having a great time. At 3:30am I could still hear them laughing. Then at 7am some of them were awake. How do kids do that ? I am just too old and already had to have one nap today LOL. Oh, how exciting it must be to be young and full of energy :)

A scruffy little ted

Meet 3.75" Wexford !

My sewing machine is still acting strange so I've had a couple of days to play with some mohair I got recently. I decided to make something small that I could hand sew. It is always inspiring to take a piece of fabric, dye it, cut, sew and create something different than my usual fur bears. It never ceases to amaze me how all these supplies shown above can transform into something with a personality.

What have I been doing ? Making a bear ?

Yes these is a little mink bear almost ready to meet the world. I finished it today- finally after about 3 weeks . I hope to have it ready for adoption by Friday.

Time seems to be flying this "summer". It is summer right ?? Mother nature sure doesn't seem to know yet. We have been living with fog , cloud , cool temperatures for the past 3 weeks. Enough already !! It really feels more like Autumn. I haven't even had shorts on yet.

My house seems like a bustling hotel since school ended LOL. I've had a different kid here almost every night ,it seems, for sleepovers with my kids.

We also went to a lovely park the other day with nice waterfalls.

There are 165 stairs to the top of this hill.

...and later picked lots of strawberries.

Plus we went to our cabin for the weekend. My daughter befriended this adorable chipmunk who was brave enough to eat out of her hand.

After a heavy rainfall and thunderstorm it cleared enough for this beautiful moonlight on the lake.

Oh and I saw the saddest movie last night, with my daughter and her friend, called My Sister's Keeper. Actually I wasn't allowed to sit with them of course, but a row behind and off to the side LOL. It's so not cool to be seen with your mom at her age LOL.

Hmm...what else... my sewing machine seems to have decided it wants to cause trouble. I'll have to take it to the repair place asap. Not looking forward to that repair bill being a computerized machine :( I hope it doesn't take too long to fix. Oh well, the break will give me time to paint/redecorate our daughter's room anyway as that's what she would like for her 13th birthday. Bye bye barbie pink walls :)

Enough rambling for now LOL. Check back for bear photos soon :)

Happy Canada Day

Yipee, it's the day to celebrate this wonderful country, Canada ! Unfortunately, it is rainy and foggy again today so I expect the fireworks will be canceled. Fingers crossed that maybe the cloud will clear in time. However, we are planning to make the best of the day and pick strawberries.

Here is a little Canada day optical illusion for you.

Stare at the little black dot in the center of this odd colored Canadian flag for about 40 seconds . Then, look at something white(piece of paper, wall, etc) and see if the flag magically appears in the correct red and white colors :)

Enjoy your day, wherever you are :)
