2009 Golden Teddy Nomination !!!

Oh my goodness, I am crying like a baby here. I JUST found out that I am nominated for a 2009 Golden Teddy Award. This is such a big competition and I gasped when I read my name on the list. Last year I got a phone call , so I assumed this year I didn't get chosen. The nominee's list was postponed several months due to technical problems so the suspense has been killing me. It is such a thrill to be recognized by my peers in the industry. Now it's up to the public to choose the final winners in each category later this summer . The nominees will be published in Teddy Bear Review Magazine.

As always, I am heavy-hearted for those that did not get chosen. I've been there too. It can sting for a bit I know.

Fresh air and fur :)

What a GORGEOUS day it is here on the East Coast. We are having an unusually hot Spring day that feels like mid summer. My outdoor thermometer reads almost 24C in the shade.
Too bad my hubby is home sick with a cold. If he starts oinking I'm getting him checked for swine flu ! Just kidding, I know this is nothing to joke about.
I am working on a mink panda today. I couldn't sit inside and miss the sun so I have moved outside onto the deck. The fur can float around and I can soak up some vitamin D.

We'll be back to regular temps after today, but this is a nice treat I must admit. It's nice to see our friendly squirrel has returned too :)

It's a jungle in here

Well, sorta LOL. Where has the week gone. I haven't even worked on a bear. Seems like the only tangible thing I accomplished was a jungle outfit for my daughter. She is attending her 1st dance competition tomorrow (starting at 7am Ugh !) , and tonight there is a fun kick off party. Her whole team of 75 plus several parents are doing a modern dance to jungle music so I needed to make her costume. I didn't want to buy a pattern so created my own.

Other than that, I FINALLY finished off my taxes, did housework, attended a couple of meetings, went to doctor's appointments with my mom, tried to arrange lawncare for her, and spent a few hours designing new business cards. That about sums up my days. Some weeks there just aren't enough hours in the day LOL.

I do hope to cut out a bear today , I just can't decided what color to make.

Your Ebay password has been compromised !

That was the email I just read and panicked over. My first thought was that it was a fraudulent email in an attempt to actually get my password. After much checking I confirmed it was true. Someone broke into my Ebay account somehow, but I think everything will be o.k. If you see anything listed by me right now it is fake so stay far away. Thankfully I chose not to list Bently on Ebay this week....funny how things work out isn't it.

However, the sun is shining, the crocuses are blooming and the tulips are sprouting through the ground :) What could be better.

The bear is completed

Something brown and furry

The house is quiet again as everyone has gone back to work/school after a long Easter weekend. It is the only time I am able to focus on bears without interruption. I can get lost in the process for hours, just me, the fur and the radio. My cat also comes for a little cuddle around 1pm every day.

I am working on a brown mink bear this week. I haven't made a solid dark brown bear for awhile so I hope it turns out like I expect. Hopefully it will be completed later this week. I do have a few other commitments that will take up some of my sewing time.

Easter Blessing to you !

For Christians , Easter is the time of year to remember the Crucifixion of Jesus as payment for the sins of all mankind. But, we can celebrate that he rose again on the 3rd day for us . May you be blessed during this holy season.

The tax man cometh.....

Like most people, I despise tax time. I am fully immersed this week in paper, paper, paper,receipts, calculators, pens, pencils,highlighters, staples, and more paper. All this to get my business taxes in order. Ick , yuck , bleck (is that a word..it should be )Once I get the numbers sorted out I still have to enter it all into my business software, then into the tax software. If only I was more organized throughout the year. Oh, and don't get me started on inventory LOL....oh my ...every little screw, eye, disk etc. My head is spinning just thinking about it.

Next year I WILL be more organized , or hire an accountant....seems to me I said that last year too-LOL

My new Creations , a bear & a bunny

Here are the finished bear and bunny that I showed in my last post. The 6.75" bear will be named by his new mom. 5.5" Bessie bunny is special too as I only offer 1 mink bunny a year. I decided to offer them privately to my mailing list members only a couple of days ago as a way to say thanks for being on my list.
I am happy to say that they were both adopted quickly. I'm just waiting for payment to be finalized and then they'll be off to their new homes in the USA.
